State Agriculture Commissioner Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Turiba Iriss Krejuma Candy

Rockaway Park, NY -- March 5, 2004 -- State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers announced today that Bozena Brzostek, d/b/a Eden Delicatessen, 114-20 Rockaway Beach Blvd., Rockaway Park, New York 11694 is recalling packages of "Turiba Iriss Krejuma" candy because it contains undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled "Turiba Iriss Krejuma" candy is packaged in a 200-gram plastic package with stamped code 09 1003.

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors revealed the product contained peanuts, which were not declared on the label. "Turiba Iriss Krejuma" candy was sold in the Queens , New York area. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to return it to the place of purchase.
