Flanigan Farms Recalls Pistachios Sourced From Setton Pistachio Terra Bella Inc. Due To Possible Health Risk

Culver City, CA - April 10, 2009 -- Flanigan Farms announced the voluntary recall of Flanigan Farms branded pistachios due to potential contamination with salmonella as a follow up to the expanded voluntary recall of pistachio products announced by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. on April 6, 2009.

The affected recalled products were distributed to retail stores in California, Nevada and Arizona. The packages being recalled are as follows:

Flanigan Farms has received no reports of illness related to the affected products; the company is issuing this recall as a precaution. Customers with Flanigan Farms pistachios that are part of the recall, may return the pistachios to the place of purchase for refund. Flanigan Farms has informed the FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.

"Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis"
