Problem/Hazard
Internal electrical components of the battery chargers can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Injuries/Incidents
There have been three reports of these battery chargers overheating and melting, causing minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Description
Evercel Inc., of Hingham, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 460 battery chargers for certain Evercel Nickel Zinc batteries often used with boat trolling motors. These Everplore-model M100-12V-12.5A-110 chargers have a blue plastic enclosure and measure 5.5-inches wide, 10.5-inches long and 3-inches thick. "EVERPLORE" and Ni-Zn Battery Charger" are written on a blue and white label on the front of the units. Cabella's mail order catalogs and web site sold these battery chargers as part of their Evercel Model MOD100-7C Trolling Battery system from August 2002 through September 2002 for about $299

Remedy
Consumers should stop using these battery chargers immediately
