When exposed to severely cold temperatures and impact, such as may occur during shipping, the power cord insulation on the electric air pump can crack, creating a short-circuit or exposing live electrical wires and presenting a shock or electrocution hazard.Injuries/Incidents
Select Comfort has received two reports of cords cracking. No injuries or property damage have been reported.Description
This program includes all Sleep Number® Beds by Select Comfort sold from November 2002 through March 15, 2003 that were shipped through or to cold weather locations.Remedy
Select Comfort is contacting all registered owners and will provide a replacement air pump at no charge to consumers whose cords exhibit damage to the wire insulation. Consumers should unplug the pump from the electrical outlet before inspecting the power cord. The bed can continue to be used even if the pump has to be replaced, but the pump should remain unplugged if the wire insulation shows any sign of cracking.Consumer Contact
