The jackets have a drawstring through the hood and the vests have a drawstring through the waist which can pose strangulation and entanglement hazards to young children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) (which were incorporated into an industry voluntary standard in 1997) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.Injuries/Incidents

This recall involves boys' black hooded jackets with a belt and an elastic drawstring at the neck. "North Sportif" is printed on the jacket's belt. The recalled vest is black and blue and is reversible. The vest has a drawstring around the waist. The garments were sold in sizes small (8-10) and medium (12-14). Both garments have a tag on the neck that reads North Sportif Urban Expedition.Remedy
Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the garment to eliminate the hazard or return the garment to Burlington Coat Factory for a refund or credit.Consumer Contact
